DOESN'T THE ABOVE PHOTO SAY IT ALL?
Bride & Groom First Look
I say that first look is probably one of my most enjoyable things to do – especially when it’s planned properly. With reactions like this above, it makes it even 1000 times more worth it! And it’ll be a moment in time between sitting down at a makeup & hair chair for 1-2 hrs and before all the craziness of the wedding day begins! I say it’s totally worth it.
Think about it, other than the rest of your bridal party, he’s the first one you’ll see with everything perfect and unaltered by passing time! There are sometimes tears, there are surprised (in a good way) faces whatever it is… it’s a beautiful moment! Not to mention, why not have and opportunity for even more photos for you to keep!
OR... ANOTHER OPTION (OR IN ADDITION IF TIME PERMITS)
Bride’s First Look with Mom & Dad
ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE EXTRA CLOSE TO YOUR PARENTS!
A first look with your parents.. or your father – since most brides have their mother with them most of the morning! But, this was one of the sweetest moments I’ve seen! But, it was the first time a bride requested this.
This was right before the ceremony when everything was a. It was the prefect moment because she was about to walk down the aisle! She was their baby! And the love you see in her parent’s eyes… it was heaven!
CONS of doing a first look
There are many couples who want to keep with traditions!! There is something truly magical about walking down the aisle being the first time where the groom sees you! And you know, there is nothing wrong with that! Sometimes first looks may not go as planned! It’s nerve wrecking – especially when you might be worried about their grooms not reacting the way they might be expecting. And if that is something you are worried about, don’t worry about it! There can always be time afterwards for some extra intimate time together – especially in between the ceremony and the reception!
SO IF YOU STILL WANT TO DO A FIRST LOOK, HOW DO WE PLAN FOR THIS?
Early in the morning, during bridal prep and after detail shots, I will go find a place for us to meet. The goal is to find a place with small amount of traffic, outdoors with good light and also has good moving room for both photographers. The groom will be stationed at the location first and then the bride will arrive afterwards! If it all works out as planned… MAGIC!
There are two ways the bride can approach the groom 🙂
- you can tap him on the shoulder and he can turn around… or…
- you could whisper “you can turn around now” when you’ve walked to a certain distance, fixed yourself up a little, and are ready for his reaction! 😀
Either way… it’s a beautiful moment with a lot of emotions, laughter and smiles!
Another thing you can consider is… if you have gifts to exchange. This would be the best time to do it… and please do include this in your scheduling just in-case this is something you would like to add! Whether it be a note or a gift… this is a wonderful time to exchange and share your heart with each other before ALL THE CRAZINESS begins!
So.. in terms of yes or no… I definitely say…
And if it’s not your cup of tea and you want to stay traditional, no worries!
